Laughter, Loss, and Living spans the years 1999 to 2002 and takes readers to South Carolina, British Columbia, and the Mediterranean. From fire ants to hurricanes to poisonous snakes, Stacy faces new challenges but continues to rely on the hand of God as she serves Him and His people in Christian education. It’s 1999, and Stacy is headed to her next teaching adventure, this time in hot and humid South Carolina. As in her previous teaching assignments, she throws herself into her work and new home, exploring, building relationships, and bringing laughter and a sense of adventure to her colleagues and students. After her time in the south, she accepts a job in Dawson Creek, British Columbia, and then wraps up the three-year span in Greece and Albania. In the midst of these adventures, Stacy faces her share of challenges, including the deteriorating health of her mother and the need to adjust to her new “home” in Alberta. But God’s faithfulness in every season stands in the forefront of the story, as He teaches Stacy valuable life lessons about trusting and following Him. Stephanie Kauffman is the author of The Girl with Nine Lives, which was shortlisted in the Braun Book Awards; Suitcases, Schools, and Survival; Troubles, Trials, and Trust; Choices, Challenges, and Changes; Decisions, Departures, and Destinations; and now Laughter, Loss and Living. She’s taught and travelled for over thirty-five years, visiting forty-two countries and teaching in thirteen of them. A resident of Portage la Prairie, Manitoba, Miss Kauffman is involved with a variety of organizations, including the Prairie Drama Academy, MCC, Newcomers to Canada, the Fort La Reine Museum, and the Herman Prior Seniors’ Centre, to name just a few.
