Maiden and the Dragon
by M. Mammonek

There have been no dragons in the kingdom of Kaladira, in the magical universe of Fableland, for longer than anyone can remember. So, when a maiden named Lucille discovers a recently hatched baby dragon in a long-forgotten cave in the Queen’s Garden, nothing in her life is ever going to be the same. Not even Fableland itself. This becomes especially clear once the frightened townsfolk decide to call upon Valiant Knight Aleric to save them . . . by slaying her Little Dragon! Maiden Lucille, Little Dragon, and Sir Robert, the queen’s protector, soon find themselves on a perilous quest to escape the knight’s clutches, hoping to find a safe home for Little Dragon far away from the kingdom, where he might get to enjoy his very own happily ever after. But if they’re to have any chance of success, they’ll need the help of a beautiful queen, a wise old wizard, and the all-knowing storyteller responsible for each of their fates. A unique take on a classic fairy-tale universe, with a number of amusing twists, Maiden and the Dragon is a story of unlikely friendships, loyalty, and the importance of getting to know people (and dragons) before ever assuming the worst about them.

Author M. Mammonek has been writing short stories since she was in secondary school, having always felt a strong affinity for storytelling in general. In fact, she has long believed that every person has at least one story inside of them, just waiting to be told. With a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree under her belt, she has pursued her love of writing for most of her adult life and Maiden and the Dragon is her fifth published children’s book. She currently lives with her husband in Saskatoon. When she’s not writing, she enjoys travelling, photography, painting, and making short films. Other books by M.
