Lucid Wake
Equitable Narratives
by
Duresameen Ashraf
In a landscape of narratives, our knowledge is impacted by media, institutions, and governments. Information, language, and data act as drivers programming algorithms in AI and social systems, the systemic outcome being reflective of the intents and inputs of the algorithms. Security, resilience, and human rights emerge as possible indicators when representative discourse are the inputs of systems. A collection of essays, global art, and poetry demonstrate the individual as the agent of change, and the consequent need to restructure social narratives accordingly.
Duresameen Ashraf holds a Master's in International Cooperation for Urban Planning from TU Darmstadt in Germany, as well as an Honours Bachelors of Science in Psychology from the University of Toronto, Canada, and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of London, England. Her projects facilitate urban safety for social resilience, which are supported by over a decade of experience in various countries and languages. Sameen was also an Analyst at the International Criminal Court (UN) in The Hague. Her books and courses may be found at dev-data.org and globaldev.institute.
