Lucy the Lob'STAR
How a lucky, plucky lobster escaped the traps to become one of the most famous weather forecasters in the world!
by Pam Wamback

Lucy the Lobster knows that she wants more from life than hanging out in the Atlantic Ocean along Nova Scotia’s coastline with her big lobster family. She wants to be famous! She just isn’t sure how she’s going to do that. One day, she meets Gilbert, a furry little creature on a mission to find a weather prognosticating groundhog to replace him. Lucy has a great idea—what if she predicts the weather? But a lobster has never predicted the weather before. Is Lucy up to the challenge? Or will her one chance at fame slip through her claws? Lucy the Lob'STAR is the fictionalized origin story of the real Lucy the Lobster, the most famous lobster in the world. On Groundhog Day in 2018, in the small fishing community of Barrington, Nova Scotia—known as the Lobster Capital of Canada—Lucy the Lobster crawled out of the Atlantic Ocean to offer her prediction of when spring would arrive…and a new tradition was born!

Pam Wamback never set out to become known as the “lady who loves lobster” but over the years, she’s become quite comfortable with the title. After growing up near the small lobster-fishing town of Shelburne, Nova Scotia, she settled into her career in the tourism and hospitality industry. She loves showing off everything her home province has to offer, but especially loves showing off all things lobster—how it’s woven into Nova Scotia’s lifestyle and culture, from art to music to history and more. Pam especially enjoys all the delicious ways to savour it and is currently on a hunt to find the province’s best lobster roll!
