Taunting Thoughts from the Dark Abyss
by
Coreen Yama
A job seeker cycles through endless rejection. An exchange student at a casino makes a desperate bid for escape. A woman survives a horrific assault only to encounter another monstrous injustice. These raw, roiling poems give voice to those lost in the abyss—the lovers and daughters desperate for connection amidst the dystopia of AI, toxic partners, and uncaring strangers. Blending light and darkness, Taunting Thoughts from the Dark Abyss illuminates the choice at the core of all humanity: death or redemption.
Coreen Yama is a personal support worker whose experience in long-term care has given her many glimpses into life and death. After years struggling with mental illness, she turned to writing to put her emotions into words, a healing process she hopes to bring to the wider world. The author of one other book—Bliss: A Collection of Erotic Visions—she lives in Toronto with her husband and two cats.
