45's & A Trench Coat
by Robert J Groves

Set in the seaside town of White Rock, B.C., Private Investigator Jackson Cole may be a nostalgia buff, but he’ll be the first to tell you that not everything is better when it’s older: the trail of accountant William Moore has certainly not improved in the half-decade since he disappeared. Jackson, though, has a fantastic team: between retired forensic scientist Sam (his best friend and trivia-genius sparring partner) and hacker extraordinaire Emily (his ex-wife and current flame), he’s got the best chance of anyone of finding a man who’s left no trace. But William’s abandoned daughter Grace, who’s not sure if her dad’s still alive, isn’t the only one he left with unfinished business. Even after all this time, someone else is pursuing this missing man, Someone who’s determined, dangerous and not above leveraging Jackson to achieve their goal. In his race to find the truth, sometime it’s better to be lucky than good, but you can’t go wrong trying for both.

Robert J Groves knows what he’s about: as a 30-year veteran of the RCMP forensic laboratories, a S.F.U. ‘The Writers Studio’ alum, a graduate of the Private Investigation - B.C. course, and an antique dealer, he’s walking a familiar beat with this novel. Writing has been a personal challenge for Groves: after living a highly scientific life, he’s decided in retirement to express his creative side. But the seeds of this story were planted long ago in his love of mystery novels and watered by a lifelong affair with trivia and nostalgia. Groves lives in South Surrey with his wife, Wendy, and their seal point Siamese cat, Sofee.
