by Goldie Madeley

The best poetry is imbued with the power to illuminate and express the thoughts and feelings we all have but sometimes struggle to articulate and speaks for all of us when we have no words of our own. With this collection, Author Goldie Madeley has laid bare the perfectly imperfect worlds that exist within each of us and found beauty amidst the chaos. Her insightful, thought-provoking, and highly relatable poetry not only speaks for us all but to us all, and reminds us that even in the darkest times, the light finds us and we are never alone.

Author Goldie Madeley began writing poetry, as many do, while going through difficult times and needing to find her own voice and her own path towards healing. She hopes that others might find some peace and healing in her words, though this is far from the only way she’s worked to help others. With an Honours BA from Willfrid Laurier University, and a Master of Teaching degree from Griffith University, in Brisbane, Australia, Madeley is a member of the Ontario College of Teachers and has worked as a sound bath and breathwork facilitator, as well as volunteering at the Vanier Centre for Women in Milton, Ontario, where she leads women through mindfulness and meditation classes. Practicing meditation has been an incredibly important part of Madeley’s healing journey, inspiring in her a deep connection to nature and a “deep inner feeling of love” that lay dormant for far too long. This practice has also inspired her to paint, striving to capture on canvas the beauty of nature, and those specific moments in which she’s felt deep love and connection. She currently lives in Oakville, Ontario, with her loving husband, two wonderful sons and her ever-present puppy. Follow on Instagram: @theybreathe
