Autism is hard enough for adults to understand—for children, it can be bewildering. In Autism Through the Eyes of a Child, readers meet Brayden, a young student. In a lot of ways, Brayden is no different from his classmates. But sometimes, he does or says things that can be hard to understand. When the other kids in his class learn about autism, it helps them understand why Brayden acts the way he does. They see that Brayden is just like they are, and they find better ways to be his friend. Children notice everything. When a child with autism exhibits behaviors that seem atypical, the other students wonder about it, but might not know how to ask the questions they have. This book helps them do that in a fun, easy to understand way so that everyone can learn together and find acceptance for those who are a little bit different.

Jennifer Zuniga is an elementary school teacher with a master’s degree in education, with an emphasis on literacy. Over the years she has worked with many students on the autism spectrum, not to mention navigating other unique challenges with both students and children. She was inspired to write her first book so that she would have a way to talk to her students about learning differences. When she isn’t hard at work, Jennifer enjoys cooking, working out, painting, volunteering with animals, and singing. A mother of two adult children, Jennifer lives in San Bruno, California, with her husband, one dog, and two cats.
