A Rainy Day
by Kathryn Ellis Collins

A little green frog is disappointed that he cannot go outside to play with his friends because it is raining. As the rain continues his patience decreases and frustrations grow bigger. He is upset because he has no control over the weather and cannot stop the rain. After much complaining and self-pity he remembers words he read in the school library that totally changed his attitude to one of acceptance and he is inspired to find a positive way to spend the rainy day. This transformation will enable him to solve future problems that will surely come to pass.

Kathryn Ellis Collins was raised in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. After High School, she moved to British Columbia where she graduated with a Masters Degree in Education. Now, after 30 years of teaching from kindergarten to grade 12, and six years teaching ESL, she is pursuing her lifelong dream of writing and illustrating children's books. Kathryn is motivated by this one core concept that change is constant but one's ability to adapt is a particular challenge we all have. Children especially are overwhelmed with making choices in addition to the constant technological bombardment of information. As parents and teachers, we hope to provide our children and students with meaningful experiences and a love of lifelong learning. In her first book, A Rainy Day, she addresses a simple problem of adapting to changes in the weather and finding a positive solution that will inspire and empower us all to grow from life's everyday experiences and setbacks while increasing in confidence, self-awareness and one's ability to adapt.
