The Mountain Girl
Stories from the Himalayas
by
Mark Batterbury
It is the year 1972 and God is alive and well in India. Many young seekers journey from the West to explore yoga and meditation in the land of its origin. In "The Retreat", a young couple's decision to meditate together in a cave leads to endless arguments about what meditation is, and an encounter with ancient night. In "Temple of Dreams", a solitary yogi discovers lost parts of himself in a haunted house. Investigating the mysterious death of a villager's cows introduces a traveller to black magic in "The Mountain Girl". The beauty of the Himalayas, the adventure of the path of yoga, and meetings with inspiring teachers fill these stories with the magic and mystery of the East.
This is the second book by Mark Batterbury. "The Broken Heart of God", is an autobiographical account of his life of wandering in the spiritual jungle, and "The Mountain Girl: Stories from the Himalayas", is a collection of four stories based on his experiences while living in retreat in India. He was born in England and presently lives in Sooke, B.C., Canada, and his astrology practice can be found at www.whitewolfastrology.com.
