My Mom has the Boo Boos
by
Jerry Lalic
When Mom gets sick, it can be pretty scary! The doctor is doing their best to help, and friends are coming around to share their well-wishes, but why is this boo boo different from a cold or a flu? And how can one little kid help make it better? Dealing with serious illness is always hard, but when children have to understand why a parent is sick, it can be overwhelming. This book helps kids process their emotions—from denial and sadness to confusion, apathy, and even anger. It serves as a powerful starting point for parents to have a conversation with their children about serious illness in their own lives in a light, fun way.
Jerry Lalic has been a pastor for more than twenty years and has counseled many families through complex or life threatening situations. He started his career as a copywriter and ended up owning his own ad agency before he emigrated to Canada with his wife Joahnna and three young children. Six months after migrating, Joahnna was diagnosed with stage 3c ovarian cancer. Their children grew up watching her fight to survive a fight she won. Now, Jerry hopes to help other families who are facing difficult situations like the one his kids went through. Jerry lives in Brampton, Ontario. He also has a second home in Montreal where the entire family gathers frequently together with their adorable mini-dachshund.
