Ghosts of Angels
by
A.E. Lawrence
WHEN YOU LOOK IN A MIRROR, WHO DO YOU SEE? Every year, for over 500 years, La Orden de las Serpientes de Cristo, a secretive sixteenth century Mexican cult has systematically conducted human sacrifices. Nick Palmer, a dispirited homicide detective, and his partner Gabriela Martinez are unknowingly investigating the latest murder in the abhorrent sequence of killings—the unidentified body of a young woman found in front of the Holy Name Cathedral in Chicago. Apparitions of the cult’s prior victims begin appearing to Nick. These ghostly figures send him on a quest to track down the leaders of the cult responsible for the ritualistic executions. Nick and Gabriela’s cat-and-mouse chase take them through major cities in Europe and Mexico in a deadly, high-stakes game of murder, retribution, love, and surprises that will change everyone’s perception of life and death.
A.E. Lawrence is a pen name. The real person lives with Vickie, his wife of plus forty years, and a couple of dogs on a small farm in the beautiful hills of Caledon, slightly northwest of Toronto. In a parallel life he’s the founder and Chief Creative Officer of a successful advertising/design agency in the aforementioned city of Toronto, and has won numerous awards for writing ads, commercials, brochures, and the like for a wide variety of clients. When he’s not doing chores or writing, hopefully blockbuster novels, you’ll find him doting on Emily and Natalia, his two grand daughters, or fly fishing for trout at his club or in the many neighboring rivers.
