Trust Me, I'm Lying
Love is taught, tested, and tamed.
by
Lexine Samuels
Twenty-two-year-old Lauren has a pretty good life with her fiancé, Dominic. But at her engagement party, Lauren meets Shane, a new family friend … and finds herself falling for him. Soon she’s embroiled in her feelings for both men. Dominic has helped her through hard times in her past, but his growing alcoholism and violence is hard to ignore, while Lauren’s attraction to Shane is complicated by darker aspects of his life that he keeps hidden from her. Forced to sacrifice stability, Lauren’s love is tested as she tries to find herself and the right path forward. Can she find a way to live authentically, or must her love be masked forever? A modern romance set in Toronto, Trust Me, I’m Lying delves into the complicated decisions of love and life as a young woman finds herself caught between two different futures.
Lexine Samuels studied screenwriting through the Toronto Film School at Yorkville University. An avid reader and writer since childhood—including winning a youth poetry contest back in middle school!—she has written in a variety of genres over the years. Trust Me, I’m Lying is her first novel and the beginning of a series. Born and raised in Toronto, Lexine now lives in Aylmer, Ontario, with her family.
