Lost and Found
A David Mallory and Laura Rios Story
by Duncan Roy

David Mallory is a recently divorced former Headmaster who now consults with elite private schools when complex and potentially damaging scandals crop up. Lara Rios is a successful South Florida realtor and single Mum who lost her only child to cancer. David and Lara’s fledgling relationship is tested in the crucible when they investigate the accidental death of a student at a marquis school in Cape Town. Set against the colourful background of Palm Beach County and Southern Africa this seemingly straight forward case spirals into mayhem as David and Lara stumble upon murder, drugs and deception and face off against a cast of villains determined to silence them.

Duncan Roy is the pen name of Duncan Hossack whose career leading independent schools in Canada and the USA gives him a unique insight into the world his fictional characters inhabit. Duncan grew up in London and moved to Canada at the age of 24 pursuing the woman he loved. Duncan and Janet live in a pretty village west of Toronto and spend summers at their old farmhouse on Prince Edward Island. Duncan has wasted a lot of time watching cricket, sampling craft beer, and reading contemporary fiction in his hammock but periodically raises enough energy to hike in the rarified atmosphere of the High Andes or the Himalayas or to brave the sweltering heat of the Amazon or the dusty emptiness of the Kalahari in search of new experiences and the solace of the natural world. Duncan graduated from the University of St Andrew’s with a Master's degree in Mediaeval History and Fine Art and has pursued studies in education at the University of London, the University of Manitoba, Florida Atlantic University and Harvard University.
