Tallon
At Any Cost
by
Bruce Verge
All parents live with the fear of the unthinkable: their child going missing. And for Roy and Carla Anders, this nightmare becomes all too real when their ten-year-old daughter Bel disappears without a trace from her Mississauga school. Desperate to get her back, the Anderses engage the services of Tallon, an enigmatic loner with no background and no allegiances who operates in the margins of the law. His only maxim: do whatever he promises to do, no matter what it takes, at any cost. In this compelling crime mystery, the elusive Tallon teams up with Irish gunman “Spanish Mike” Callahan to penetrate Canada’s dark underworld of human trafficking. With the reluctant support of the police—including a smart-mouthed female detective—their search takes them into places where the line between right and wrong will get erased in their fight to rescue a child from an unspeakably horrific fate.
After dabbling in short fiction and poetry, Tallon is Bruce Verge’s first novel in a series. Bruce and his wife Leigh live in Kincardine, Ontario, on the shore of Lake Huron. They have two grown sons who live with their families in Ontario.
