Geordie MacMurdo Bides His Time
by Tom Goodman

Geordie MacMurdo is a widowed lawyer living and practising in Isla, a Scottish-Canadian town located just north of Winnipeg. One of his clients, a Ukrainian rancher, apparently commits suicide, but Geordie suspects another cause, perhaps murder. The principal suspect is the town’s mayor, Dugald Campbell, who is Geordie’s lifelong adversary. The story takes place in 1983, when the French language crisis was raging in Manitoba. Poetry, local colour, and Manitoba and Scottish history enliven the narrative.

A retired lawyer, Tom Goodman resides in Stonewall, Manitoba. His first book, a work of non-fiction entitled "Her Darling Boy, the letters of a mother, her beloved son and the heartbreaking cost of Vimy Ridge", was published in 2016. Among other distinctions, the book was featured at the Vimy Centennial Exhibition presented by the Canada War Museum. Tom has also written a collection of short stories entitled "My (Mostly) Manitoba Stories". His email address is StonewallTomAuthor@gmail.com and you can follow him on Twitter at @StonewallTom.
