The Huckabirds Face Their Fears
by J. R. Huckaby

The Huckabirds Learn to Face Their Fears is a 3-in-1 book. It starts with two illustrated children’s stories paired with a back section for parents and caregivers. The back section offers an abundance of practical wisdom, skills and help in growing children who choose courage over fear.

It all begins on a hot summer day, with an outing to the bird bath. Liam, the youngest Huckabird, has never been to a bird bath before! Fear causes him to miss out on the family fun. How will he ever learn to overcome his fear? Children will get to learn along with Liam! In the second story, the birds Lucy, Ryan, and Claire learn they each have a personal fear that they want to overcome. As these three Huckabird friends help each other face their fears, young readers gain understanding and learn the skills they need to challenge their own fears.

Learning how to deal with fear is life changing. The combination of these two whimsical stories with a section full of practical help, trusted skills, model conversations, and encouragement will go a long way to help grow healthy children and eliminate crippling fear.

"As a pediatrician, I try to offer lessons of truth for raising kids. How I wish I had the Huckabirds when I was a young parent and how thankful I am that I can share these with my patients and parents."

—R. Michael Green, MD

"Children today are experiencing record high levels of anxiety and fear. Due to their own experiences of anxiety and fear, parents often feel at a loss to help children combat their fears. This book normalizes the experience of fear, offering children simple ways to understand anxiety, as well as concrete, easy-to-understand tools for them to master their fears. This book empowers both children and adults to master their fears and to live bravely. I cannot recommend this important book highly enough!"

— Summers McMurray, Psy.D., Licensed Clinical Psychologist

"You can't help but love the Huckabirds! As a former elementary school educator and current Preschool Director in a large, faith-based school, I delight in books that provide parents, teachers and caregivers additional support in building core Christian principles in their children's lives. I recommend this wonderful series to benefit generations of family members!"

— Karen Witcher, Director, Cedar Springs Weekday School, M. Ed.
