Surviving Recovery
Emotional Recovery
by
Julie Anne Bortoletto
Surviving Recovery offers a glimpse at the highs and lows of a life of addiction. Through personal, rhyming verse, these poems explore cycles of self-destruction, strained relationships, loss and grief, relapse, and, ultimately, the humility of recovery. From drug deals in roadside motels to forgiveness and love, this book captures both personal shortcomings and the strength required to move forward and learn to be oneself again.
I would like to dedicate this book to my two children. They have come to teach me about an unconditional love; that I have never really experienced before. I love you Chantelle and Brian!! I know I have not been the perfect Mother; and have not lived the perfect life; but who has?
Julie Bortoletto has experienced a lifetime of drug and alcohol addiction. On her path to recovery, she used poetry to process her experiences and hopes sharing her stories will help others. She lives in Kelowna, BC, with her common-law husband, Todd, her two cats, and four fish. Surviving Recovery is her first book.
