Black and White Friends
by
Betsy Hirsch Rosen
Black and White Friends is the story of Ziggy the Zebra and the black and white friends he comes across as he steps out of his front door one sunny morning: a bird, a dog, a panda, a skunk, and two penguins. Through the friends' adventures in Berrytown, the book offers a gentle introduction to values of friendship, diversity, and inclusivity. It's a tale about living creatures in nature that are not that dissimilar to you and me and how their differences in color, or mix of color, make them beautiful. Black and White Friends has full-color illustrations on every page, and will appeal to children two years and up.
Betsy Hirsch Rosen is a retired Pediatric Occupational Therapist who resides in Los Angeles, California. She has always encouraged her children to see the beauty in nature and embrace peoples' differences. The author is an amateur painter and loves reading and spending time outdoors. She values time with family and friends and is a wife, mother, mother-in-law and grandmother. The little boy in the story is named after her first grandchild, Max.
