It's All A Question Of Perspective
by John Gordon Smith

Set primarily against a background of Canada’s West Coast, the twenty seven stories collected in It’s All a Question of Perspective capture the emotions and decisions of everyday people confronted by everyday circumstances, and how they are changed by them. Some reflect the long shadows of past events resulting from their own actions, while others deal with circumstances beyond their control, sometimes caused by seemingly random twists of fate. Telling of love and loss, trust and betrayal, self-sacrifice and abuse, the stories challenge conflicting perspectives, test relationships in marriages, families and friendships, and delve into the experiences of loss of loved ones.

This book will be read and enjoyed by anyone intrigued by the surprising and sometimes shocking twists and turns the journey human nature take us on.

“The Pistol”, one of the stories in this collection, was published in The Advocate, Vol. 67, Part 3, May 2009, published by the Vancouver Bar Association.

A retired lawyer, John Gordon Smith enjoys meeting and observing people, and engaging them in conversation. He has a strong interest in what motivates ordinary people, creating a foundation upon which to create stories that readers can relate to and enjoy. In addition to writing, reading and participating in discussion groups, John is a life-long music lover, both as a listener and as a participant. For most of his life he has sung in choirs, and is presently a member of a local group. John has three adult children and five grandchildren from his first marriage, and has been married to Sue for twenty five years. John and Sue live in Qualicum Beach on Vancouver Island with Brooke, their Newfoundland dog.
