It's Not 'Cuz of Me
by
Daphne L. McFee
When Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) enters a home everyone is affected by it. So often children are left upset, with a lack of understanding and wondering what’s going on. This story is for those children who have PTSD in their family, giving voice to their experiences, emotions and worries. This book should help give a child a sense of understanding and empowerment that PTSD is “nobody’s fault,” and “it’s not cuz of me.”
Daphne is a retired police officer, having served almost 30 years with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP). Her husband, who is also a retired RCMP officer, suffers from severe complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Daphne has seen first hand the effects that PTSD can have on a family. One thing in particular that she witnessed was the impact it had on their children. Both Daphne and her husband are firm believers in the importance of peer support and early intervention, especially for all those who lives have been affected by PTSD. With the right treatment, they know that things can improve, and hope that they can help other families and children with this story.
