Potluck at Rabbit Hill
Memories of Life with the Rabbit Hill Baptist Church Community
by Sigrid Stark

At first glance Rabbit Hill Baptist Church is just that: a quaint little country church just outside of Edmonton’s city limits. It’s not until you go inside and meet the people that you realize that this is a place like no other. Here you’ll find stories that need to be told. Stories about burning outhouses, exploding trees and flying mice. You’ll find stories about people who will make you laugh out loud and make you wish that they were part of your life too. Well, minus things that burn, explode, and fly. Potluck at Rabbit Hill is an engaging and enjoyable read about memorable times with a beautiful community. Author Sigrid Stark was part of the church when her husband was their pastor from 1992 to 2004. She is a consummate storyteller who captures the laughter, love, and sometimes sadness of a compassionate community of faith. Whether or not readers are people of faith themselves, they will find her stories about kind people living good lives both captivating and inspirational.

"Readers of Potluck at Rabbit Hill don’t have to rely on pot-luck; they’re in for a sure-fire treat. With an engaging, homey style reminiscent of Stuart McLean, Sig Stark introduces her readers to the cast of ‘characters’ among whom she lived and ministered as a pastor’s wife in a small rural Alberta community. Stark’s stories are often hilarious, sometimes reflective, but always captivating. Potluck at Rabbit Hill is a virtual feast for the mind, soul, and funny-bone." —Heidi Janz, PhD

After their time at Rabbit Hill Baptist Church, Sigrid Stark and her husband, Loren, moved to Canada’s west coast. They now live in Comox B.C. where Sigrid spends her time writing, creating art and exploring the beauty of Vancouver Island. Of their time with the church, she says, “In many ways the church served us. They helped raise our four children, invited us to their tables, and charmed us with their unfailing laughter. It was an honour to be part of their lives.” She notes that she carried around the Rabbit Hill stories in her heart for years, telling them to whoever would listen before finally putting them on paper. Potluck at Rabbit Hill is Sigrid’s first book.
