Colour Your Zen
by Josie Rose Schmidt

This beautiful colouring book is considered Zentangle inspired art and is a combination of “tangling” and real life objects all drawn freehand with pen. She first learned about tangling from the site Zentangle.com. There is something for everyone in her book as there are drawings that are pre‑shaded and are frame ready or pages without tangling. Although the book is intended for adults and teens, even older children can enjoy the benefits of colouring. Tangling can never be perfect as it is freehand and that is the beauty of it all. There is no right or wrong way to colour or draw. Find a comfortable chair and let your imagination fly. Tangling is not only fun to colour but also very therapeutic. When you make intended strokes such as colouring circles or making any strokes with intention it is like meditation. You are so focused on what you are doing that you shut out the world around you and you become one with your page. Colouring is a stress reliever and even a pain reliever because of the focus you put on what you are colouring or drawing. Hours fly by without notice. So happy colouring while you feel the relaxation and realize you have forgotten the troubles of the day!

She would like to dedicate this book to her husband Dale who supports her in all her endeavours and is her biggest fan. Josie also thanks Larry Mader of LM Publication Services in Regina, SK. His gentle encouragement and amazing skillset enabled her to forge ahead, turning her dream into a reality. Josie is the sole proprietor of Colour Your Zen Publications and is happy to be partnered with FriesenPress to spread the calming effects of colouring tangled illustrations. As she often says, leaves do not have to be coloured green or flowers pink. Colour this book your way and “get your Zen on”.
