The Things that are Strange
by Duane Michael Weide

A fantastic assemblage of rude, lewd, barbarically-brutish, and crude poetry that I have deliberately, rigorously, precisely-meticulously, and thoughtfully plopped on paper for you, her, that guy over there, and your ugly neighbor in the tree who keeps peeking into your window while you shower. I will attest, swear, and verify that you will be disgustingly tickled and as soon as I climb down from this tree, I will do the same!

Duane Michael Weide is 39 years old, and was born July 8th, 1976, Farmington Hills, Michigan; only child. He currently lives in Ypsilanti, Michigan, working as a Federal Intern for the Washtenaw County of Veterans Affairs helping indigent and homeless veterans. His Mother’s side of the family is Korean Rock-Army, white collars, and Martial Science experts. His Father’s side is blue-collars and US Army. Duane has been writing poetry all his life as well as art. Decades of Martial Art studies, cultural shocks, and being able to travel the world continues to feed Duane’s inspiration. At the age of 27, he joined the Army. He ended up doing two tours in Iraq with an impressive military service record. He has obtained 2 associates, 2 advanced certifications, 2 military degrees, 2 black-belt certifications, numerous war medals and awards, a variety of single poem publications and art, accredited military and civilian memberships, a bachelor’s degree, an ordainment, and now he is in his master’s program working towards his PH. D. These were the only outlets for Duane in times of adversity and horror, and sometimes humorous escapades. The greatest inspiration to Duane is from the experience of being ill and dying in the hospital. Now he has new purpose accompanied by forgotten faith and wisdom. He was lost most of his life but God has found him. Having surviving death twice and numerous close calls has left Duane conditioned and appreciative of life.
