Searching in Shadows and Sunshine
by Jean P. Daniel

My poems tell the journey of my life, from playing in the fields at my country home to dark and sad times going though life. My joy was as great as my despair as you cannot have one without the other. Those I wrote about will live as long as these printed words exist.

Jean Daniel, born July 26, 1937, in Augusta, Georgia. She was the youngest of eight children and loved living in the country on a dairy farm. Her days were spent outdoors in the world of crickets, owls and June bugs. Her love of nature helped shape her life and is evident in her poems. She attended local schools and graduated from the Graduate School of Retail Banking at University Of Virginia. She began writing poetry at the age of 15 and was poet of the month at the University Of South Carolina, Aiken, S. C. She taught various courses for the American Institute of Banking and was a seminar leader for the National Association of Bank Women, teaching women how to enhance their careers in banking. Her banking career spanned over 50 years. In 1969, she was in an automobile accident and suffered internal injuries which resulted in a pulmonary embolism. She had a near death experience which influenced her writing and outlook on life. She is a cancer survivor, never losing faith that God would be with her through those days of uncertainty. She continues to live in Augusta with her greatest joy being her family.
