Mom’s Museum and Dad’s Hobby
by
Ib A. Larsen
For 41 years, the Larsen family held the custodial reins of Horsens Museum in Denmark. A unique story from the inside; a perspective held by the only two people who could call the Museum their childhood home, the Author, Ib Larsen and his sister Inger Olsen (nee Larsen) both now living in British Columbia, Canada. At 72 and 89 years respectively, they have agreed to share snapshots of their grandfather, Frederik, their parents, Adolf and Ingeborg Larsen, about their life, and their work at the Museum during the unbridled years of the first half of the twentieth century - remembering the Custodians of Horsens Museum.
Born in Copenhagen, the Author's family slipped their moorings to Denmark in the late fifties and with the throngs of immigrants that left Europe, set sail for Canada. After a career with BC Hydro, he and his wife Muriel, a Registered Nurse, settled in the coast mountains along the Harrison River east of Vancouver. They have four children, 12 grandchildren spread out from Edmonton to Vancouver Island. Widely traveled throughout the US and Canada they now set their sights on European Cruises. This book, his first attempt at publishing, has been for the sole purpose of connecting with the country of his birth and provide for his parents legacy. A tribute to who they were and the giant contribution they left for posterity.
