Of Rhyme and Reason
by
Paulette Michele Obertz
Of Ryhme and Reason, is a collection of poems born out of a child's disillusionment of her memories in life. Here the author reveals to the reader her dark sadness and total confusion from death and deep despair at an early age. The author is able to create a language in verse that consists of metaphors with empathic emotion. In doing so, the author, is able to bring you along to experience her private world of love and pain. Along with her fears and joys you will come to understand her deep insight on living life no matter what may block the way.
It was not the the witnessing of her mothers death at the age of six, but the journey after that is becoming Paulette’s tapestry in life. Paulette Obertz, was born to a mother and father of Irish and Hungarian decent. Upon their early deaths she was placed in a foster home along with her two siblings. Paulette, moved between foster and state homes until she turned eighteen. After high school and during her college years Paulette, followed her generation towards sex, drugs and rock and roll which became much more appealing. It wasn’t until she stopped to take a long hard look inwards and in doing so, she was able to come to a deeper understanding of life. Paulette, became a foster parent herself and dedicates her poetry to all foster children everywhere in hopes of letting them know loss isn’t about an end but, rather a beginning to a much fuller life for having gone through it.
