Dr. Aras Demir has received training at such institutions as: University of Arizona, University of New Mexico, Maine Medical Center, and Brookdale Hospital in New York. Dr. Aras Demir faced many challenges developing his own self-identity during his year as a Turkish exchange student in the United States. Demir, like many migrants, felt deep emotional struggles with his dual nationalism. Demir eventually realized that he did not need to choose between being Turkish or an American: he could be both. Those experiences guided Demir during his international work in paediatrics and adolescent medicine. In 1992, Demir launched Turkey's Newborn Resuscitation Program. Giving new life to babies, improving young people's quality of life and inter-cultural understanding are the hallmark of Dr. Demir's life's work.
