All in the Family Tree
A (somewhat) true story about four women and one bad apple
by Susan R. Taylor

Every family has stories that are remembered and others that are left untold. When family photographs, letters, and long-forgotten records raise more questions than answers, a granddaughter sets out to piece together the story of her enigmatic grandfather. What unfolds is not just the story of one man, but also the stories of the women whose lives were forever touched by his choices. Their stories span two world wars, several decades, and three countries and reveal the resilience, sacrifices, heartbreaks, and quiet acts of courage that shaped their seemingly ordinary lives. Part family memoir and part historical fiction, All in the Family Tree is a story of family and the search for answers to questions that linger and echo through generations.

Susan R. Taylor turned her love for stories and years of archival research into her first book, All in the Family Tree, after questions about her family history went unanswered. Susan’s professional training in social research honed the investigative and analytical skills that she used to bring this project to life. The discovery of family artifacts and historical records inspired her to blend fact and imagination into a story about family, love, and loss. Susan is a lifelong creative spirit who loves to write, sew, knit, collage, sketch, garden, cook, and travel the world. Susan and her husband Glen live in Dundas, Ontario, where she enjoys spending time with a treasured circle of family and friends.
