Explant
The Essential Guidebook to Surgery, Recovery & Breast Implant Illness
by Lindsey Anne Fowler

What do you do when a cosmetic surgery you chose for yourself is making you sick? Every year, more and more women find themselves making the brave decision to remove their breast implants due to ongoing illness—what’s now recognized as breast implant illness (BII). In Explant: A Guidebook to Surgery & Recovery, BII survivor and advocate Lindsey Anne Fowler offers a compassionate, step-by-step roadmap through the emotional decision to explant and the healing journey that follows—physically, mentally, and spiritually. Covering every step from preparation to recovery, this guidebook offers clarity, support, and confidence for every stage of the journey. Here’s what you’ll find inside: • A Global Guide to Trusted Explant Surgeons • A list of essentials to purchase and pack in preparation for your surgery • A five-week nutrition guide for healing your body post-op and beyond • Healthy, whole-foods-based recipes for supporting your recovery • Guidance on finding the social, mental, and spiritual support you need to heal • Practical advice for recovering physically, from how to do “T-rex arms” to the best kinds of pillows and bras to purchase • A manual for detoxing your body as you recover • Tools for regaining your confidence and finding peace and acceptance in your new body • And much, much more! Compassionate, empowering, and incredibly thorough, Explant is more than just a guide—it’s a call to reclaim your health, rediscover your authentic self, and embrace the healing you deserve.

This book was a real blessing. I needed someone who understood me and what I was going through. Lindsey’s support felt like coming home to a sister who sees you and holds you without judgment.” —Farah, 44, UK “It wasn’t just about my body—it was about finally listening to what my soul had been trying to say for years. This book truly helped me. —Melissa, 51, Alberta

Shortly after having her implants put in, author Lindsey Anne Fowler had a near-death experience in the form of a massive bilateral pulmonary embolism. This life-altering event was a pivotal moment in her life, bringing her face to face with the severe risks associated with breast implants—and the ways the body can reject them. Going through the harrowing experience of BII, the difficult decision to remove her implants, and the recovery to follow, she found herself shocked by the lack of comprehensive resources available to women undergoing this experience. This led her to fill this gap herself, carving out a space online offering help to women navigating this experience, from practical advice to social support. Armed with a wealth of knowledge in holistic health and wellness, along with a love of writing and a deep desire to “pay it forward,” Fowler has since established herself as an explant coach, public speaker, and advocate. Her work and lived experience ultimately culminated in the writing of this book. Lindsey is the founder of the Explant Surgery & BII Wellness Community on Facebook and an active member of several advocacy networks, including the Breast Implant Illness Support Group by Dr. Shaher Khan, MD, the Breast Implant Removal Support, ENTV-The Entrepreneur Visibility Platform, and Breast Implant Illness Hope For Healing. Beyond her work as a coach and advocate, she enjoys yoga, practising qigong, spending time in nature, gardening, and cooking big, hearty meals for her four sons with what she harvests. She makes her home in Vancouver, British Columbia, where her little dog Henri is always by her side. Interested in getting in touch?
