The Fox and the Volcano
by
Giulia Volpe
One beautiful spring morning, Flora Fox decides to visit her friend Dudley the Owl, who lives in a distant kingdom. Once there, Dudley invites her to see a mysterious volcano in a nearby land; Flora is thrilled! When they reach the volcano, they admire it from a safe distance. But then, Flora starts to explore on her own. Much to her surprise, she sees a group of hikers that is eager to remove a glowing stone that is trapped within the volcano’s wall. Suddenly, the volcano begins to tremble. Flora tries to warn the group of the dangers of disturbing this ancient structure, but they ignore her. She knows that you shouldn’t take things that don’t belong to you—but can she make the hikers see the truth before it’s too late? The Fox & the Volcano is an exciting fable that is sure to delight young readers for many years to come.
Giulia Volpe is a long-time devotee of children’s fiction—both to read and to write! She minored in children’s literature while studying at university, and at present, is a member of the Association of Italian Canadian Writers. She is currently working on her first novel. Giulia lives in Vaughan, Ontario, where she enjoys crocheting and reading in her spare time. She is also the author of The Fox & the Castle, and 31 Life Lessons That My Children Taught Me, which is available in six languages.
