Secret In New York City
by
Daniel J Demers
One broken heart. One giant city. One secret hidden in the heart of Central Park. After a tough first year of college and the heartbreak of losing her summer crush, Jayme Goodall is stuck. Her solution? A spontaneous trip to the Big Apple. It’ll be the perfect distraction from her woes—or so she thinks. Armed with a “must-see” list of famous sites and a craving for bagels, she plans to play tourist for a week and forget her troubles. But the city that never sleeps has other plans. A chance encounter shortly upon her arrival thrusts Jayme into a hidden world of competing factions, each with their own vision of the past—and the future—of Central Park. As century-old secrets rise to the surface, Jayme must decide whom to trust, what to believe, and whether she’s ready to take on more than just her own heartbreak. Caught in the middle of an decades-long battle, Jayme’s simple attempt to lift her spirits turns into a far bigger adventure than she ever could have imagined, and she wouldn’t have it any other way.
Daniel J Demers is a lifelong history buff whose fascination with Central Park and its rich heritage inspired this novel. A father of two young adult daughters, Daniel also draws inspiration from their insights and experiences, which help shape his storytelling. With a professional background in banking, he first discovered his passion for writing while exploring his own family’s history, culminating in his debut nonfiction work, Buoyant Passages. That journey sparked the creation of the Jayme Adventure Series, a collection of novels that blends historical intrigue with youthful curiosity. Through these adventures, Daniel hopes to ignite a love of history in young readers and celebrate the hidden stories all around us.
