Sea Escape
by
Ode Lunardi
Young Teo and his stuffed animal friends, Lily and Paleto, are tired of seeing the same hospital walls day in and day out. They’re ready to go on an adventure! With a little magic, the trio leaves behind the hospital room and sets out on an enchanting undersea journey. They meet George, a lost octopus, help sea creatures in need, and face a menacing barracuda, all while swimming through stunning underwater landscapes. Along the way, Teo and his friends learn the power of teamwork, courage, and kindness, while discovering the beauty of the unknown. This heartwarming graphic novel invites readers to dive into a world of friendship and bravery. Whether you’re a curious little adventurer spending time in the hospital, a fan of the ocean and all its creatures, or just interested in a fun adventure, Sea Escape has something for everyone.
Ode Lunardi is a mother, an author, a public servant, and a scuba diver who loves the sea—vivid, colourful, awe-inspiring underwater scenes that evoke a deep sense of peace and tranquility. Her son Teo was born with a congenital condition and given just a 30% chance of survival. He spent seventy days in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and underwent three surgeries in three years, but he emerged stronger than ever. Ode wanted to share the magic of life under the sea with Teo, weaving it into a story that celebrates his adventurous spirit and love of life. This book is a gift for him, reflecting his courage and curiosity and feeding his boundless imagination. Ode lives in Aylmer, Quebec, with her partner Marko and their beautiful boys, Teo and Luka (the newest member of the family, who will be part of the next books!). Majo is a freelance illustrator based in Mexico City, though her upbringing across multiple cities has shaped her identity as a citizen of Planet Earth.
