by
Siobhan Chirico
Relationships with kids are dynamic. There are times of calm, joy, and beauty, and then there are times…when they throw their tablet at the wall! Are you living in parenting turmoil? Are you struggling to understand how you got there? Climbing Crisis Mountain: A Guided Picture Book for Managing Meltdowns and Challenging Behaviour is a digestible, illustrated, step-by-step guide for parents who are struggling to manage meltdowns. It summarizes years of neuroscience and behavioural psychology into an accessible and easy-to-use guide. Colour-coded for ease of reading, the book offers in-the-moment thoughts, language, and behaviours to support your child...starting today! The strategies in this book are universally applicable and can help any parent, caregiver, or educator with what to think, say, and do when things get tough for kids. By giving kids the tools they need to express when they’re in crisis, you will learn how to guide your child back down the mountain to a peaceful state—even when the tablet hits the fan.

"Learning about "Crisis Mountain" has changed everything for our family! We avoid or shorten tantrums and meltdowns, and our whole house is calmer." —Chris & Cassandra, Parents of four children "This book breaks down so much information about children's behaviour into an easy-to-read and understandable plan! My kids respond so differently now that we have shared language and strategies. We have very few full-blown meltdowns and a new way to communicate when things are tough. I also use these strategies in my classroom, which is amazing." —Patricia, Teacher and Mom of two children "No one has ever explained kids' behaviour to me like this before- it's a game changer. I thought I always had to be tough and not let them get away with anything- now I can talk to them and help them cope when things feel hard. We are all much happier with these strategies." —Sean, Dad of two
