What’s going on? Why is it so dark? So silent? Am I dead or just stuck in limbo? And either way ... how did I get here? Evangeline had felt drawn to the darkness for as long as she could remember—or at least to the fictional darkness—specifically vampires. The dream of sharing a romantic “happily ever after” that might truly last forever. Perhaps that’s why she’d fallen so hard for Gabriel, a young man almost as mysterious to her as he was attractive. If vampires were real, she might have actually assumed he was one ... but of course, that was crazy. Though his mysterious behaviour was, at times, almost as infuriating to her as it was compelling, she just couldn’t seem to stop imagining them taking the next step in their relationship. Unfortunately, the darkness had other plans. On a night out with friends, Evangeline is viciously attacked after stepping outside a night club alone. When she wakes up in the hospital, she has no real answers—not for the police who’d found three brutally murdered men on the scene, and not for herself. All that remained was broken images of violence and pain ... most disturbingly, a splash of blood and flashing white teeth. But what of Gabriel? Evangeline needed answers to move forward. The thought was almost as painful to Evangeline as were her injuries. She might not be certain of much, but one thing was growing clearer all the time. She needed to see him again, unravel his mystery, and finally decide if he was meant to be her future.
