Art & Science of Foot Care
A Multidisciplinary Resource
by
Cindy L.M. Lazenby
This third edition of The Art and Science of Foot Care is an in-depth resource for practitioners and students of nursing foot care. The authors offer a readable and straightforward discussion of new and established best practices and care techniques required for the standardization of foot care and foot care education. The textbook is intended primarily to provide a functional resource to those pursuing a career in nursing foot care. It is also a valuable educational tool for other professionals with an interest in foot health and complex lower-leg conditions. The book also serves as an important resource for clinics, community libraries, and patient education. This peer-reviewed textbook is a revision of a previous edition of this book, last updated in 2020. Multiple authors collaborated to make this the pre-eminent resource for foot care nurses, practitioners, and students. The Art and Science of Foot Care serves as the primary resource for many foot care nursing programs in Canada, including Foot Canada Training's Advanced Foot Care Nurse Program, and is being used as a guide for similar programs to be created in other countries. This current edition has been updated to showcase a refreshed gallery of new photos, an extensive glossary of terms, up to date infection prevention and control standards, and a renewed focus on the fundamentals of the role of the foot care nurse.
Cindy Lazenby, RN, is the lead author of The Art and Science of Foot Care. She is the founder and Education Advisor of Foot Canada Training, a Canadian nursing foot care education company dedicated to promoting the advancement of standardized and accessible foot care nurse education in accordance with best practice guidelines. Julie Gauthier, BAH, B.Ed., is the Executive Director of Foot Canada Training and is a contributing author and the lead editor. The team’s goal for this textbook is to help improve client care outcomes by standardizing foot care practices. Foot Canada Training hopes readers will achieve excellence by working together in advancing foot care and foot care education.
