I wish we had more time together, or that time would slow. I wish I could keep you here with me, or that we could run and hide. A mother cow has only one wish: She wants to be with her calf. On a dairy farm, a mother cow expresses her love and heartbreak, as she prepares for her calf to be taken by humans. The bond between mother and calf is strong, but they are trapped in the endless cycle of the dairy and veal industries. She only hopes that someone who cares will help them. Told through captivating rhymes, I Wish explores animal rights in a digestible way for children, and opens their hearts and minds to this question: What steps can you take to positively change the lives of animals?
Brittney Goudreau is an ethical vegan living in the heart of the cattle industry in Alberta, Canada, and she has been advocating for animal rights for the past six years. Becoming a new mom raising vegan children inspired her to write a children’s book that sheds light on animal rights issues. I Wish is her first children’s book in a series spotlighting farm animals. Brittney lives in Edmonton, Alberta, with her husband, Marcel, two daughters, Story and Esmée, and their cats, Frank and Harry.
