Doris Nickles is a lifelong writer whose love for the written word has woven its way throughout the tapestry of her life. From an early age, Doris discovered solace and expression through all sorts of writing, drawing inspiration from her own experiences and emotions. Fiction is a new venture for Doris, something she began pursuing as a way to cope with depression and loneliness during the COVID-19 pandemic. Detectives Smith and Weston grew out of this period, battling crime in a fictional version of the picturesque city of Winnipeg, Manitoba, where she lives. In addition to writing, Doris is an accomplished nurse, the mother of three children, a certified counselor, and an ordained minister.
