I am Brave... and I Know it
Building CLARITY & PERSISTENCE in TEENS
by Sophie Lazarou and Chynna Ho-Young Cadogan

What does it mean to be brave - how do we want to define bravery? Is being brave loud? Is being brave fierce? Can introverts be brave? Deconstructing the traditional ideals around courage, character, and strength How do we re-write a narrative that teaches our teens about character, compassion, and perseverance? What are the key messages we want to pass along to this age group around the ideas of bravery? Identify critical, limiting ideals, and expand this definition Am I brave? How do I see myself? Why, when, what, and….how our experience shapes us, limits us, contains us, distracts us, defines us…. Do we need to be brave? What does it mean to have courage? Can everyone be fearless? I am Brave…and I Know it is the third book of this empowering children’s trilogy series, specifically for the teen audience. I am Beautiful...and I Know it written for the young child, and I am Brilliant...and I Know it written for the early reader. This collection of teaching books stays with the child and helps guide them as they move through life, offering playful and important messages, personal stories and perspectives while promoting meaningful and provocative conversations. This series was born from Sophie’s best-selling adult book, Beautiful Brilliant and Brave. It is Sophie’s mission to remind all of us, who have the privilege to influence: from parents, grandparents, guardians, and educators, of the kinds of impact we each have, not only on those in our care but also on the next generation.
