A Pair of Rainbow Socks
by
Rose Bigras
Sometimes the smallest thing—even a pair of socks—can help someone who’s struggling. For Rose Bigras, growing up gay involved tough times. The older she got, the more different she felt. She lied to fit in and kept her daydreams to herself. Even when she learned that it was okay to like girls instead of guys, it was hard to share the truth. How will she find the courage to tell her family… and how will they react? Featuring illustrations by the author, A Pair of Rainbow Socks is a true coming-out story of growing up, facing self-doubt, and finding acceptance.
Rose Bigras is a lesbian writer and illustrator from Montréal, Canada. She wrote and illustrated A Pair of Rainbow Socks at age fifteen to help LGBTQ+ youth realize that being gay should never be something to be ashamed of. When Rose isn’t drawing or painting, she’s probably nose deep in a fantasy novel. She adores music—priding herself on her flute and guitar playing—almost as much as her pet rat, Lola.
