Bella Loves to Fly!
by
Alessandro Bozzo
From her earliest memories, Bella has always loved to fly. She’s a helicopter on her mother’s legs, an eagle on her mother’s shoulders, and rides a rollercoaster—with her mother beside her. Every time Bella gets scared, she reaches out and knows her mother’s hand is there for her to hold. But when Bella grows up, she has to learn to face her fears on her own. Bella Loves to Fly! is a heartfelt, coming-of-age story about the power of the mother-daughter relationship. In her early years, Bella is very dependent on her mother's support. But as she faces life’s challenges, her mother's love and wisdom help her persevere—and thrive on her own. Eventually, Bella learns to give back the comfort she’s needed throughout her life.
Alessandro Bozzo is the author of Christopher, Where's Kitty? and a part-time kindergarten and primary school monitor. He has two young children of his own, and has shared his manuscript during in-class visits to kindergarten and Kumon students. He was inspired to write Bella Loves to Fly! during a conversation between a friend of his and her daughter, when her daughter explained that she wanted to touch the sky—while still holding onto her mother's hand. Bozzo lives in Toronto, Canada, with his wife and two sons.
