Dryers and Clams
by
Chantal Leipsig
Coral is a young mermaid who lives off the coast of South Africa. Her biggest wish is to be a hairstylist, but when she starts hairdressing school, it isn’t easy at first. Told within the colourful, underwater backdrop of Coral’s home, Dryers and Clams is an enchanting story of a dedicated mermaid determined to reach her goals. With the help of Octalia the octopus, Doreen the dolphin, Gugu the mermaid, and her loving family, Coral learns that it’s okay to make mistakes—as long as you never give up on your dreams.
Chantal Leipsig was born in Belgium and moved to South Africa when she was seven years old, where she lived until she moved to Canada in 1994. She has been a hairstylist for thirty-seven years and lives in Shawnigan Lake, British Columbia, with her husband and their two dogs. She is currently working on her next book, Dryers, Clams, and Lobsters, which tells the story of how Coral moves to Canada.
