Everlasting Lies
by
Barbara Warren
The novel is about lying Charles Vernon and promiscuous Edina Vernon in a story that spans the years from when Victoria was Queen to 1920. It describes northern England, the soldier’s hardships in the trenches, and life with servants in Imperial India. Relationships explode on the pages of this novel. They are real, hurtful, and explicit. The characters are strong, believable and the dialogue convincing. Because of this, Barbara’s first novel is animated and provocative. A real page-turner! Both Edina and Charles are living lies. They hurt other people as well themselves. Will they be able to reconcile and trust each other again? The novel shows the hardships yet opportunities for the brave and strong, both males and females of that time. Shows the major changes in the two main characters Charles and Edina. The ending of the story will leave you begging for more!
It is delightful to read a novel that is explicit, and complete with authentic descriptions of the time it was set in, all the while building intense understanding of the characters. It is captivating and intriguing!! I really look forward to reading the complete story!! Jean Eyre Barbara is a born story-teller. She writes with great expression whether it is drama or humor, sadness or joy, reality or fiction. Her characters are described in such detail that the reader has the feeling they might recognise that character if they were to meet on the street. No matter the situation, Barbara tells it like it is. You will find no sugar coating here! Marion Fleming
Barbara went to India, in 1998 and saw the spirit of her mother swimming along beside her on the River Ganges in the form of a very rare river dolphin. A few days later, she heard the palm reader telling her strange tales of her grandparents’ lives when they, too, were in India. Barbara brings to her story-telling her experiences of riding elephants in Rajasthan, diving on the Great Barrier Reef in the Coral Sea and exploring the jungles of Cambodia. Barbara was a schoolteacher, teaching in Elementary and Junior High Schools. This is her first novel. She has taught courses to seniors on memoir writing. Barbara and her husband have always enjoyed travelling and adventure. They embrace open-minded people, like themselves, who do not judge the differences but celebrate them. Barbara and her husband spend their winters in Mexico. Life, this far has been remarkable, enriching and fascinating.
