Four Years of Talking is a compelling compilation of speeches, articles, and press releases delivered by Prof. Steve Sinikiem Azaiki during his tenure as a member of the Nigerian House of Representatives from June 2019 to June 2023. The book offers a candid and detailed window into the work of a legislator — not just on the floor of the National Assembly, but across national, and international platforms. The book is organized into two thematic parts: Bayelsa Politics and National Affairs. Among the defining moments captured in the book are Prof. Azaiki’s passionate response to the devastating 2022 floods in Bayelsa State, his position papers on the controversial Petroleum Industry Bill and the Electoral Bill, his stewardship accounts to constituents, and his consistent championing of education and human capital development. Former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, GCFR, wrote the Foreword, describing the book as “a clear portrait of robust representation.” The book is dedicated to Prof. Azaiki’s daughter, Kalizibe, who at thirteen fought cancer for two years — and won.

Prof. Steve Sinikiem Azaiki is a distinguished Nigerian scholar, administrator, and politician. spheres. On the public service front, he served as the pioneer Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources and later as Secretary to the Bayelsa State Government, roles that exposed him to the deepest dynamics of governance and statecraft. He went on to serve as Special Adviser in several federal ministries during the administration of President Goodluck Jonathan. His election to the House of Representatives in 2019, representing the Yenagoa/Kolokuma-Opokuma Federal Constituency, marked yet another chapter in a life of unbroken service. On the legislative platform, he served as Vice Chair of the Parliamentary Network on the World Bank and the IMF, and as the founding President of the Nigerian chapter of GOPAC (Global Organisation of Parliamentarians Against Corruption). He also founded the International Society of Comparative Education, Science and Technology, an affiliate of the World Council of Comparative Education Societies.
