The Sun Within
Atomic Energy and Life
by Ole Hendrickson

Life on Earth depends on the Sun’s atomic energy, incorporated into plants through photosynthesis. Our bodies are made up of elements produced by past generations of stars, connecting us to processes occurring throughout the Universe. The Sun Within explores the connections between nuclear physics and biology and examines the mysterious and fascinating ways that energy sustains life. It reviews the somewhat startling theory that living organisms obtain energy directly from low energy nuclear reactions within their cells, transmuting elements and isotopes. This has been proposed by researchers for many decades, but has not yet been accepted by mainstream science. This book has the potential to revolutionize physics and biology. Courageous scientists who are willing to challenge current dogma, and who are intrigued by these ideas, can test them using techniques suggested by the author.

Ole Hendrickson completed his PhD at the University of Georgia and post-graduate studies at the University of Guelph, specializing in forest ecology. For twenty-eight years he served as a forest scientist and science advisor to the Government of Canada, representing Canada at many international meetings of the UN Convention on Biological Diversity. After retirement, Ole studied elemental transmutations in the Sun and other stars. His desire to share more widely the arguments for similar transmutations in living cells led to the writing of The Sun Within. Throughout his education and professional career, Ole maintained a keen interest in responsible management of radioactive waste and other environmental issues. He is a past president of the Sierra Club Canada Foundation and researcher for Concerned Citizens of Renfrew County and Area. Ole lives in the Ottawa Valley, Canada. He enjoys identifying specimens of native plants and participating in local bird and butterfly counts. He and his wife Lynn have two grown children, Grace and Claire.
