Bye-bye, Mama's Milk
by
Elizabeth K. Arleo
While celebrating the breastfeeding relationship between mother and child as a unique era of life for both, Bye-bye, Mama's Milk also provides the inspiration needed to gently bring the era to a close, whenever the time may be. Recognizing the mixed feelings that may accompany weaning – a milestone rarely acknowledged as such – the book offers an engaging and compassionate way for readers to make the adjustment. Along the way, young children can learn about numbers and counting, as well as participate in interactive extension activities described at the end. In Bye-bye, Mama's Milk, the author, a breast imaging specialist, shares the book she wrote for her three children when they were younger – a simple series of steps leading to a happy transition and conclusion.
Bye-bye, Mama's Milk is a poignant and gentle story about an important milestone rarely discussed - the transition away from breastfeeding. This book is a beautiful way to help both toddler and mother say a joyful goodbye to this wonderful (yet finite!) phase. —Sarah Hart-Unger, MD, pediatric endocrinologist, co-host of the podcast Best of Both Worlds, and author of the book Best Laid Plans: A Simple Planning System for Living a Life That You Love This may be the most beautiful and practical book available on how to honor the exquisite breastfeeding relationship between a mother and child — and to then celebrate the readiness of a child to say “bye-bye, mama’s milk.” What a gift this is to parents and children alike! —Jennifer McTiernan, JD, lawyer and entrepreneur Bye-bye, Mama's Milk turned something I was anxious about into a simple and joyful transition. Thank you, Dr. Arleo, for sharing this wisdom with breastfeeding parents and their children. —Kathryn Sievers, MM, Boston Symphony Orchestra
