The Gift of God's Spirit
by
Bart van Roijen
Bishop Bart draws on his educational background and missionary work in the North in this new Sacrament of Confirmation resource addressed to the Indigenous Youths of his diocese. Written and produced with the visual learner in mind, this resource draws on images, symbols and stories as a source for reflection on the gift of the Holy Spirit. The caption on the back cover of the student resource reads: Dear Child of God: As you prepare to be sealed by the gift of the Holy Spirit, I pray that this illustrated guide, and the people with whom you will share it, may help you deepen your friendship with God, help you to recognize him in your culture and traditions, and prepare you for the Sacrament of Confirmation.
Julie Lewis, illustrator: Julie's positive, sparkly disposition is a natural fit for teaching art lessons to children and adults in her SassyTuna Studio. Having studied at top art colleges at Grenfell, Sheridan, Algonquin and Dalhousie University, Julie uses a variety of art techniques to create a well-rounded creative experience. Completing thousands of art pieces every year, from digital art to murals and portraitures, in graphite, pastel watercolour and acrylic paint, she has worked for such television studios as Spumco, Amberwood and Boomstone (for The Family Channel), and in computer design with Dalhousie University. Please visit her website at: https://www.sassytuna.com/. Acknowledgements: This project was made possible by a generous grant from the Ex Corde Foundation, set up by the Roman Catholic Diocese of Hamilton, Ontario, and financial support from the Sister of Mercy in St. John's, Newfoundland.
Bart van Roijen has a passion to share his faith and love for Christ with all those who want to know him. Ordained to the priesthood in 1997 and as Bishop in 2019, Bart draws on his educational background in this new Confirmation Resource addressed to the Indigenous Youths of his diocese. The Gift of God’s Spirit is the product of his own reflection on biblical stories, indigenous culture and traditions, and his love for nature.
