Restoration Games
by
Bob Oliver
Gary Denson has survived and thrived by developing his own moral code—one built on stealing, cheating, and taking advantage of others at any opportunity. His sophisticated and corrupt career as a con artist has taken him from city to city across Canada, leaving a trail of destruction behind him while he seeks new prospects. When a fire consumes his house, Gary jumps at the perfect opportunity to con his way to a hefty insurance payout. The process will take lots of juggling, but Gary has become good at keeping plenty of balls in the air at once. He’s played games like this before, and he’s ready for a new challenge. But while Gary plays his game, others throughout the property restoration industry are playing their own. The game Gary plays is a deadly one, and this just might prove to be his last.
Bob Oliver is a retired Restoration Industry professional whose twenty-five-year career had him travelling the globe to respond to large-scale property damage events. His mission during each event was to design a suitable recovery plan to prevent further damage, expedite recovery, and limit business interruption. This work took him to many of the planet’s continents, exposing him to many cultures and construction practices. Throughout his career, Oliver was published in various trade magazines and has lectured in many countries on restorative topics and concepts related to the property restoration industry. Now retired, Oliver lives in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, with his wife of fifty years, living a stone’s throw from their grandchildren. He holds a master’s degree in business administration and is a certified restorer. He can be reached at bobdotoliver@gmail.com.
