Understanding Prophetic Ministry
A Biblical Review to Preserving Sound Practices, Correcting Misconceptions and Preventing Abuses
by Pastor Tewodros Assefa Damtew

With the advent of social media and its inherent ability to make people's words "go viral," abundant opportunities exist for false prophecies to flourish in the church. People are drawn to these "prophets" to ease anxiety, fulfill wants, or know the future. But when these men and women aren't speaking God's words, they can lead people astray and turn their eyes from our Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ. In Understanding Prophetic Ministry, author Tewodros Assefa Damtew addresses this danger by highlighting the benchmarks and characteristics of the true prophets of God and providing practical instructions on how to deal, in love, with the false prophets that will arise these days. Pastor Damtew bases his words on biblical truth and rigorous theological study, and his teaching provides transformative insights and guidance to all those interested in learning more about prophecy and other ministerial gifts in the church. With topics ranging from the restoration of the prophetic ministry to the infiltration of false prophets, this is a must-read for Bible students, visionaries, church leaders, and the laity. Relevant, timely, and straightforward, Understanding Prophetic Ministry will be a valuable resource in Bible colleges and seminaries, church and personal libraries, and small group studies.

Dr. Tewodros Assefa Damtew's Understanding Prophetic Ministry contributes immensely to the study of the role of the Holy Spirit in God's Mission. It is rooted in the Scriptures, corrective, and pastorally rich in content. It persuasively pleads for rediscovering the Spirit's role in contemporary missional renewal. It challenges both the abuse of the gifts of the Spirit and the marginalization of the Holy Spirit to the point of being indifferent to His presence in and through the church. A must-read! Girma Bekele, Ph.D. Adjunct Professor, Tyndale University College & Seminary I am so pleased to encourage you to read, Understanding Prophetic Ministry. Pastor Damtew, under the anointing, has skillfully written this teaching book to release the gospel message to all willing to be led and taught by the Holy Spirit. Rev. Kenneth A. Solbrekken. Former District Superintendent of the ABNWT (PAOC) This book provides a timely and profound analysis of the Prophetic Ministry within evangelical churches.
