My First Filling
by Tamara Murphy

Have you ever been to the dentist before? Mom says I have, but I was so little that I don’t remember. Now, I’m nervous for what to expect! Even though I’m a little scared, I know the sugar bugs in my teeth need to be washed away, and Mom says I might even get a surprise from the dentist if I’m a good helper. So, you guessed it, I am on my way to the dentist. My First Filling tells the story of a child’s trip to the dentist and first experience with a cavity. The story aims to help children conquer their fear of going to the dentist, with its brave narrator at the helm. Through this book, readers will learn about the process of a dental cleaning and filling, as well as the people and tools involved. My First Filling will help the little ones to feel empowered about their next visit to the dentist, and maybe even a bit excited!

Tamara Murphy makes her authorial debut with her children’s publication My First Filling. A dental hygienist since 1994, Tamara’s experience ranges from pedodontics to chairside assistance, all of which provided her with the context for her first book. Having helped many young people throughthis fear, Tamara presents My First Filling to children, adults, and dental professionals as a resource to demystify what’s involved in dental visits, helping to instill a calm confidence in young dentist-goers everywhere.
